The Limousin breed originated in France and has been in Portugal since the middle of the last century. Due to its high level of roughness and elegance, the Limousin easily adapts to conditions from the north to the south of the country. Right now, it is the breed that does best in both pure breeding and crossing with local breeds.
Being easy to adapt to different edaphoclimatic conditions, it quickly spread throughout the world, currently being created and selected in more than 90 countries on different continents. The breed is characterised by a combination of basic characteristics, which are characterised by ease, rapid growth, hardness, and softness.
The Limousin has a lot of muscle mass and produces a lot of meat. This gives it a wide range of end products, from great calves at weaning to fattening results that can't be beat.One of its qualities is that it can make high-quality products at any age and can adapt to new ways of making things as they come along.
